Is
it a Wool Hat?
See what it's made of...
Wool needs to be washed in cold water or it will shrink. So, you're looking
at washing
your wool hats by hand, and our drying
system is the best way by far to make a wool hat look good again.
DO NOT wash
wool hats in a machine... wash by hand only and DO NOT DRY in a Dryer.
Check
the washing instructions.
They're there for a reason.
If it says dry clean only, then dry clean only. Experts say this is usually
the case with
more expensive hats, so chances are
if you spent a bit of money on your hat, you'd like to keep it looking
nice –
splurge on the professional cleaning.
We called three cleaners and the price for a basic cap was from $2.50 to
$5.00.
For a suede cap it'll cost you more
like $15.00.
Use
the washing machine:
Wash your hat in warm water
and a gentle soap, on a gentle cycle, in a washing machine (Do Not Dry).
The washing machine method works
best for hats (other than wool) as it allows any creases in a hat to better
"lose" their shape and helps give
you a better looking hat when drying using our drying method.
Use
the dishwasher:
Some say the dishwasher works
best for cleaning most hats. Wash your hats by themselves! Then use our
drying
method for the best look possible.
Wash
by hand:
If your hat has a spot or
just a lot of grime on the sweatband, you may want to take care of it with
a gentle washing
product. Wash the affected area with
a toothbrush or by hand. Then rinse the just washed area. Don't put the
whole
hat in water, but if you do, just
use our simple and easy method to dry it right. And, you can use our drying
system
even if you want to dry just the
band part of your hat... that will make it nice and flat like new.
Wash
your hats sparingly:
Washing your hat may ruin
it outright, the hot water in a dishwasher or washing machine or if you're
washing by hand
take its toll. Some hats, even some
cotton hats, use plastic stitching that will eventually crack after a few
washings.
Never
wash it:
You could just let your hat
get so dirty no one wants to touch it but you. If you're really worried
about wrecking
your hat by washing it, wear it till
it falls off, or just get it thoroughly wet and then use our easy drying
instructions
to dry it without any wrinkles...
it will still be dirty but it sure will look better.
